About Me
--------
Hey there! 👋
I'm Shashank Pritam, a PhD student at North Dakota State University, where I spend my days diving deep into the fascinating world of computational biology at the Signor Lab. Started this wild ride in Fall 2022, and honestly, loving every bit of it.
What I'm About:
- - Computational biologist by day, code ninja by night
- - Small RNA enthusiast (yes, that's actually a thing)
- - Open-source advocate and terminal dweller
- - Perpetual learner and occasional teacher
- - Minimalist in life, maximalist in code documentation
Research Life:
Currently building computational tools and pipelines to understand the mysterious world of small RNAs and transposable elements. Think of it as being a detective, but instead of solving crimes, I'm solving biological puzzles with code.
Tech Philosophy:
- - If it can be automated, it should be
- - Clean code is better than clever code
- - Version control everything (even grocery lists)
- - Documentation is not optional
- - Coffee is a valid debugging tool
When Not Science-ing:
- - Contributing to open-source projects
- - Exploring new programming languages
- - Tinkering with Linux configurations
- - Reading sci-fi and research papers (sometimes hard to tell apart)
- - Optimizing my development workflow
